Kudumbashree Women Brace up for Entrepreneurship

A single window entrepreneurship mela was organised by Kudumbashree District Mission in the city on Friday as part of the Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana project to find interested entrepreneurs towards realising poverty alleviation in urban areas

It was opportunities galore for the hundreds of women gathered inside Priyadarshini Hall to hone their business acumen on Friday. The ‘women in green’ as they are most familiar to city residents, were in to scale themselves up as efficient entrepreneurs in future taking a cue from the agencies and companies that were ready to help them with the kind of enterprise they wish to start.

It was as part of the Swarna Jayanti Shahari Rozgar Yojana (SJSRY) project that the single window entrepreneurship mela was organised by Kudumbashree District Mission to find interested entrepreneurs towards realising poverty alleviation in urban areas. Along with the agencies, banks  opened their pavilions to arrange bank loans to support the women to start ventures. Special loan schemes and rapid implementation of projects were arranged at the mela.

Kudumbashree workers from the City Corporation area, Attingal, Varkala, Nedumangad and Neyyattinkara turned up to find opportunities and start different business ventures. Most of the agencies came up with a demonstration of the kind of project they are practising and pass on a first-hand introduction to the women.

The agencies that participated in the mela were V Care Environmental Services, BCG Health Care, Gender Park, Metal Industries Limited, Larsons Engineering Works, Paschim Bio Space Research Parks Private Limited, Kudumbashree Travels, Abheda Institute of Food Research and Hospitality Management, Rain Concert Technology Private Limited, Kurians Koodu, D C Books and other training groups.

The mela was inaugurated by District Collector Biju Prabhakar.
