The Vizhinjam Motherport Action Council (V-mac) on Wednesday alleged that the Central and State Governments were misleading people regarding the cases in connection with the Vizhinjam port pending before the Green Tribunal in Chennai and New Delhi.
The Vizhinjam Motherport Action Council said that while the State Government was taking the stand that the Green Tribunal had no right to evaluate the changes made to the Coastal Regulation Act, the Central Government had contested this claim.
The Vizhinjam Motherport Action Council alleged that the differing stands of the two governments was aimed at stalling the Vizhinjam port project.
The owners of illegally constructed hotels on the Vizhinjam beach are also part of the conspiracy, the council alleged.
The executive committee of the V-mac also said that the much-proclaimed environmental clearance for the port was part of a drama. V-mac president Elias John chaired the meeting.
Secretary Wilfred Kulas, S Shooja and Ramakrishna Pillai among others attended.
