THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A police official who sexually abused a 10-year-old boy was placed on suspension by Range IG Manoj Abraham on Sunday.
The accused has been identified as Venugopalan, Grade ASI of Naruvamoodu police station.
The official subjected the boy to unnatural sex near a shop at Kalliyoor, the cop’s native place, on Sunday.
The Nemom Police arrested the accused within hours and the suspension order followed.
Man Ends Life by Jumping into Pond
T’Puram: A man committed suicide by jumping into the pond of Pazhavadi Temple at Nedumangad on Sunday.
The incident happened in broad daylight and in the presence of other devotees.
The deceased has been identified as Prashant, 34, of Kurupuzha.
According to the police, some bystanders had seen him talking to the temple priest and later, he took the plunge. The devotees grew suspicious when he didn’t emerge out of the water and informed the Nedumangad Police.
Prashant is survived by wife and a daughter.
