THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister V S Sivakumar said that liver transplantation facility will be set up in the Medical College Hospital here within 100 days by including it under the Mission 676. He said that special rest rooms for men would also be arranged on the premises of SAT Hospital. He was inaugurating the reconstructed casualty section and SAT Hospital day fete here on Saturday.

“New casualty section in the MCH will  start functioning by September. Steps will be taken so that the casualty can function in the old building,” the Minister said.

He said that instructions were given to the PWD to make the master plan for the MCH and SAT Hospital.

“The government has taken action to reduce the death ratio of newly born children. The plan to reduce the death rate of children will be launched within five years. Like the 108 ambulance service model, 287 ‘Janani Suraksha Expresses’ will be  introduced for maternity treatment,” he said.

He said that the government has taken action for the implementation of special facilities for In-vitro Fertilisation (IVF) treatment.
