Explosives Seized from House in Vellarada

The Vellarada Police seized explosives from an uninhabited house in Aarattupuzha. Four sacks of Ammonium Nitrate and nine sacks, with 200 gelignite sticks each, were found.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vellarada Police seized explosives from an uninhabited house in Aarattupuzha. Four sacks of Ammonium Nitrate and nine sacks, with 200 gelignite sticks each, were found.

The police had acted upon a tip-off. Upon finding the explosives, the chemicals were tested to confirm their composition. The owner of the house, Binu, 33, lives in an adjacent house. The police suspect that he might have stored the explosives for using in a quarry.

Binu is absconding, according to the police. Search is on to find him.

Missing Driver’s Body Recovered

T’Puram: The body of a driver, who had gone missing in the sea, was recovered from the Adimalathura beach on Friday.

The deceased, Rintu Jose, 22, of Tirur in Malappuram district, had gone missing while taking a dip in the sea in Kovalam. He was suspected to have been swept away by waves.

The police had been searching for him.

Rintu was working with a tour operator in Ernakulam.

He was in Kovalam as he had driven a few clients to the beach.

The body was found by the Coastal Police beach patrol headed by ASI Vishwambharan and was  handed over to the Kovalam Police.

He is survived by parents and a sister.
