THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Presenting personalised birthday gift with a groovy touch is Ribin Richard with a mash up of youth sensation Dulquer Salman’s songs. Ribin will release a mash up album of Dulquer’s songs, on the actor’s birthday which falls on July 28.
The mash up album will have songs crooned by Dulquer and also several super hit songs in which he has acted. Ribin’s mash up track is a first of its kind attempt in Malayalam and was done with the support of music director Gopi Sundar.
A pioneer of electronic music production in the state, Ribin’s remix of Avial’s ‘Aadu Pambe’ became a major hit and has been a regular track in the set played in clubs across India and abroad.
He has also produced a couple of remix tracks in Malayalam crime thriller ‘Asha Black’, gaining firm ground in the music production scene in Kerala. Asked about what was different in his style when compared to the rest, he says, “I am a DJ and I produce my music. In Kerala, not a lot of DJs produce their tracks themselves. While looking at the international scene, a majority of the popular DJs create their own tracks and in Kerala, I am the first and that is what sets me apart.”
Performing his tracks all over India and in popular night clubs such as Sensation in Dubai, Ribin has carved a niche for himself in the field of electronic music production. Armed with the command he’s gained over the style in years, Ribin founded the Richard’s Academy in Kaloor to train aspiring music producers in the genres of electronic music, dance music and various related styles and he looks forward to giving the styles a bright future in the state.
