THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Eram group, the Saudi Arabia- based business group and promoters of E-toilets in India, will open a skill improvement facility at Angamaly in association with the government to train skilled and unskilled technicians to make them equipped for overseas employments.
At a meet-the-press programme organised under Kesari Journalist Trust, Eram group chairman and managing director Siddeek Ahmed said they had already signed an MoU with various certifications agencies across the continents.
The Rs 50-crore facility will be inaugurated in August. In all, 3,600 people will be trained in 36 trades a year at the facility spreading over 40,000 sq feet.
While there are several industrial training institutes and polytechnic colleges in the state, the students here are not exposed to international plants and facilities. The facility at Angamaly would provide training under the supervision of experts who have international exposure for several years. To function as a finishing school, there will be programmes for polishing language skills. It will also associate with KASE, under the Labour Department, Siddeek Ahmed said.
He said the government should have ended the injustice of charging hefty fee from students seeking admission under NRI quota. Though they had given a project report to open professional colleges under NORKA, nothing progressed in this direction. Eram Scientific, a group concern has already installed over 1000 e-toilets across the country.
The project is implemented in association with Bill Gates’ Foundation. He said awareness will be imported in reducing water use and plastic in schools. In all, 60 lakh students will be trained in the institute.
