Meeting of Forest Ministers Over Inter-state Forest Conservation

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting of Forest Ministers in southern states will be held here on August 6. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy will inaugurate the conference and Forest Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will preside over the function.

Ramanath Rai (Karnataka), K Palanisamy (Tamil Nadu), Jogu Ramanna (Telenagana) T Thiagarajan (Puducherry) and Gopalakrishna Reddy (Andhra Pradesh) are the ministers who will participate in the conference.

The proposed meeting will discuss inter-state forest conservation, steps to prevent hunting and sale of wild animals, sandalwood smuggling and joint checks at forest check posts among other issues, a release from the office of the Forest Minister said.
