Cops to Hound Anti-socials

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of reports on the soaring anti-social activities in and around Kariyavattom campus, the city police have decided to launch stringent measures, including round-the-clock surveillance through patrolling, to curb the menace.

The decision was taken after the city police commissioner H Venkatesh and the Sreekaryam police visited the spot following complaints from the students. The students had pointed out that several anti-social elements have been trespassing into the campus and antagonising them.

The team took statements from the students and University senate members following the complaint.  The students told police that many strangers were holing up near the Hymavathi pond at the backside of the campus and indulging in anti-social activities. The commissioner also visited the places and instructed the police to conduct persistent surveillance as there was a dearth in the security officers on night duty.
