'Arteria' Launched in City

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  To a small crowd of wayfarers at LMS Junction, getting to see a live flow of brush strokes of eminent artists was a rare sight, though some were familiar with their expertise on canvas. ‘Arteria’, the project to beautify major walls on city streets, has overcome all initial hiccups and was launched here on Tuesday. Painting a few strokes, the project was inaugurated by Tourism Minister A P Anilkumar on the walls of University Stadium.

After the launch, the Minister said a sum of Rs 15 lakh out of Rs 50 lakh for the project has already been sanctioned. A joint initiative of the Tourism Department and district administration, the project was put forward by Collector Biju Prabhakar. Planned to have an opening way back in 2014, the project got entangled in roadblocks. As per initial plans, it envisaged painting a one-lakh square feet space at a cost of Rs 2 crore.
