'Vara Utsav 2015' to be Organised

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  ‘Vara Utsav 2015’, a painting competition for school students will be held  in association with Lions Clubs International Zone 11, Region 3, Sector 5, Dist 318A and Gandhi Darsan Samithi, as part of its Onam celebrations, Sahithy.

 This is the second year that the event, held in connection with Onam Tourism Week celebrations is being held by the Tourimsm Department.

 Separate painting competitions will be held for KG, LP, UP and HS students, on August 17 at the respective schools. Two to three students with the best paintings will be selected from each school. The paintings will be exhibited from August 23 to 29 at the ICUF Centre, General hospital Junction in the city.

The prizes for the winners will be distributed at an event on September 4. The best student artist from each school will be honoured, while the school which ensures maximum participation of students (90% to 100% of the roll strength) will be eligible for special recognition and the ‘Maveli Ever Rolling Trophy’.

 Schools with a participation of a minimum of 100 students will qualify for special mention and a special memento.

 All the students who participate in the competitions will receive an ‘Onam Tourism Week Vara Utsav 2015’ certificate as well.

The Lions Clubs International Zone 11, Region 3, Sector 5, Dist 318A will sponsor a Trophy for ‘the Best Child Artist’.As part of the initial steps for ‘Vara Utsav 2015’ a joint meeting of drawing/painting/art teachers would be held on August 7 at Cotton Hill Government LPS, Vazhuthacaud.
