THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The timely intervention by Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala helped save a 16-year-old from the clutches of the drug mafia.

A woman belonging to Malayinkeezhu had called on the minister at his residence on Thursday morning with a complaint that her 16-year-old son, a drug addict, was missing for the past two days.

Chennithala handed over the complaint to ADGP A Hemachandran. Following an investigation by the DySP, Nedumangad, the boy was found in Thiruvananthapuram city. He was among a gang peddling drugs.
