Fever Outbreak in Thiruvananthapuram : Cleanliness Drive Begins

The week-long cleanliness drive as part of preventing the outbreak of fever and contagious disease in the state began.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The week-long cleanliness drive as part of preventing the outbreak of fever and contagious disease in the state began on Monday. During the drive, several programmes will be undertaken at all public places, houses, government establishments, offices and private institutions. Health Minister V S Sivakumar has called upon everyone to become part of the drive. The programmes are being implemented by panchayats, municipalities and corporations with the coordination of the ward-level Suchitwa Samithis. The main focus would be on mosquito eradication, he said after a meeting of health officials here. 

He said that inspections would be held at houses, public and private institutions on Tuesday as part of the Safe Kerala Programme. Apart from that, inspections would also be held at hotels and restaurants. Ahead of Onam, awareness programmes would be held on safe food and safe drinks.

As part of Jagrata, a programme for prevention of communicable diseases among migrant labourers, mobile medical teams would visit labour camps.
