'Utilise Funds for Government Schools': Kerala Governor

Governor P Sathasivam has said that people’s representatives including MLAs should utilise their funds generously for government schools.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Governor P Sathasivam has said that people’s representatives including MLAs should utilise their funds generously for government schools.

 He was inaugurating the centenary celebrations of Government Vocational and Higher Secondary School, Thycaud.

 The Governor said that as he completed school and law degree at government institutions, he can understand the needs and limitations of government schools. He said that the plight of the school where he studied remains the same after all these years. He said that the schools in Kerala are far better in comparison.

 He said that MLAs can contribute much towards improving the basic facilities of government schools by building classrooms, auditorium and sanitation facilities. He said that school education is the foundation for the growth of the society.

 The Governor said that educational institutions should be able to develop the skills of students, so that they can contribute to the society’s good.

 He said that the unprecedented growth in Science and Technology has helped improve education. At the same time, students should take care that human values are protected in this day and age, he said.

 B Sathyan MLA presided over at the function, which started with a cultural procession. He said that, as part of improving amenities at the school, he will see to it that a multi-storey centennial memorial building is built.

 District Panchayat Health and Education Standing Committee Chairperson Subaida Teacher said that the district panchayat will help build a centenary memorial gate.
