Elderly Man Hit by Bike Dies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 66-year-old man was killed in a road accident after he was hit by a speeding motor cycle while crossing the road at Karamana here on Saturday night.

The deceased has been identified as Subramania Iyer, a resident of Murugan Kovil Street at Karamana.

According to City Traffic Police, the accident occurred around 10 pm on Saturday when Iyer parked his scooter beside the road for purchasing some household items from a shop, near QRS showroom.

“After shopping, he crossed the road when he was hit by a speeding bike heading towards Killippalam. The local people took him to the nearby private hospital where he succumbed to injuries on Sunday,” police said.  Iyer is survived by wife and two children.
