THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has directed State Police Chief T P Senkumar to ensure transparency in the purchase of equipment for the force. A statement from the minister’s office said on Sunday that the directive was to avoid allegations and complaints.
The minister asked the police chief to make purchases after ensuring the necessity and quality factors. The purchase rules should be followed strictly. Expert opinion should be sought in required cases. The tender specifications for buying vehicles or equipment should not be framed to favour a particular brand.
