The DMO said that personal hygiene is most important in keeping away diseases during Onam. Food should be prepared only in hygienic conditions. Vegetables and fruits should only be used after washing them properly.
As people travel more during the Onam season, the DMO has asked the people to take precaution against vector borne diseases and H1N1. In case of any symptoms, they should approach the nearest hospital, the DMO said.
