Serial Offender Held Under KAAPA

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:  The Sreekariyam police on Wednesday arrested and detained a serial offender under the provisions of the Kerala Antisocial Activities Prevention Act (KAAPA).

The detained person was identified as Deepu S Kumar, an accused in various cases, including murder, under the provisions of KAAPA.

Medical College circle inspector Sheen Tharayil said he had earlier been detained for six months from October last year. “But, he continued to involve in criminal activities again, following which the police reported the matter to the district collector, who issued the order for second detention,” he said. The cases against him include murder attempts, thefts, assaults, extortion and theft.
