THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The five empty seats spread over the Finance and Tax Appeal committees of the city corporation were filled on Thursday with the completion of the election process. With this the election process to the standing committees of the civic body came to an end. The process got over without voting. Stephy J George, Suni Chandran and V Vijayakumar were elected to the Finance Committee, while Alathara Anilkumar and S Anitha became members of the Tax Appeal committee.
With the inclusion of the new members, the Finance Committee now has 13 members and Tax committee 12. Out of the eight committees, seven is ruled by LDF and one, Tax Appeal Committee, is led by BJP, which has seven members. UDF has none. During the standing committee election held a couple of days ago, both these committees didn’t have proper number of nominations. Following this the elections got scheduled to Thursday.
Selection of chairpersons to the committees is scheduled for Monday. A member from the party which has the most number of members in each committee will be chosen as chairperson.
