DGP Cadre Posts to be Taken up With PM

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Oommen Chandy would take up the issue of sanctioning two more cadre posts of DGPs in the state when he would meet the Prime Minister on Wednesday, Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala told the Assembly.

Chennithala said that there were more cadre posts for IAS and IFS officials compared to IPS. “There are about 12 Additional Chief Secretaries drawing the chief secretary-level salary in the state. For IFS, there are three cadre posts in the rank. But for IPS, there are only two cadre posts for DGPs. The state has already pointed this out to the Centre. The chief minister will take it up with Prime  Minister Narendra Modi during a meeting on December 9,” the Home Minister informed the Assembly.

Chennithala said that as per rules, the state government could temporarily create ex-cadre posts which could be later made cadre posts.
