Farm Journalism Awards for Students

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: he government plans to give Farm Journalism Awards to students. Agriculture Minister K P Mohanan shared this at a seminar on organic farming organised by the Farm Journalist Forum on Tuesday. K Muraleedharan MLA presided over, at the seminar held at YMCA Hall. The awards will be given away by the Union Minister for Agriculture on January 9, 2016. The award ceremony will be held in Kochi.

The minister said that Kerala should be an example for the whole country in organic farming. Several small and big initiatives were happening in agriculture, but they were going unreported, he said. “It is in order to encourage children to report that the competition is being held,” he said.

The competition will be held in two categories. Children up to class VII can participate in the first category and those between class VII and XII can participate in the second category. The first, second and third prizes are worth `10,000, `5,000 and `3,000 respectively. In addition, 10 consolation prizes will be given.
