THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 24-year-old man was killed in an accident after the bike he was travelling on collided head on with a container truck at a curve at Poovar-Vizhinjam road in Kallumukku near Kanjiramkulam here on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Bibin, son of Christudas, a resident of Erikalluvila, Poovar. The Kanjiramkulam police registered a case in connection with the incident. According to the police, the accident occurred around 4.30 pm when Bibin was heading for his residence at Poovar from Puthiyathura. When he reached a sharp curve in Kallumukku, a speeding container truck came from the opposite direction, lost control ensuing in a head-on collision.
Though injured Bibin was taken to the Medical College Hospital with the help of locals and Poovar police, he was declared dead on arrival. The body has been shifted to the morgue and will be handed over to relatives after an autopsy on Monday. The police seized the container truck and took the driver into custody.
