THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF will hold a 'Wheel jam strike' across the state on January 14 against the Centre for not lowering the price of petroleum products even though the crude oil price in the market has come down.
As part of the strike, vehicles will not ply on the roads from 3 pm to 3.30 pm, LDF convener Vaikom Viswan has said.
In 2010, when the crude oil price was $85 per barrel, the price of diesel and petrol was ` 37.75 and `55.87 per litre respectively.
The price per barrel has come down to $35, but the price of diesel and petrol is `46.99 and `59.98 respectively. In Kerala, the prices are `50.59 and `64.74 per litre for diesel and petrol respectively, he said.
He also alleged that the petrol pricers had been increased seven times after the BJP came to power.
