THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A car parked in the compound of a house in Mangalapuram police station limits caught fire in the wee hours of Monday.
The ‘Honda Amaze’ car parked in the residential compound of Salahudeen of SN Manzil, Paachira was gutted in the fire.
‘’One of Salahudeen’s friends, who was passing through the area at that time, saw the car in flames and alerted Salahudeen over phone. Though Salahudeen and family were there inside the house, they were unaware of the incident until he received the call,’’ the police said. The fire was doused by the police and the public. As per Salahudeen’s statement, the vehicle worth Rs 9.5 lakh was gutted in the incident.
A probe has been launched on the basis of his complaint, the police said.
