Kerala to Get 22 Fish-landing Centres

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Fisheries, Ports and Excise K Babu said on Thursday that the state would get 22 fish-landing centres worth Rs 19.46 crore. He was speaking after inaugurating the construction of the fish landing centre and anganwadi at Anchuthengu and the Mambally Fish Village project. Among the 22 centres, Thiruvananthapuram would get eight fish landing centres worth Rs 8.75 crore. The construction of five fish-landing centres - at Paruthoor, Poovar, Puthiyathura, Puthucurichy, Anchuthengu - had been completed, he said. The 250.25 sq m fish-landing centre has an auction hall, a chill room, an office room and toilet facility.

Four anganwadis worth Rs 74 lakh had been constructed at Valiyathura and Anchuthengu. That was part of KSCAD’s initiative of constructing 68 anganwadis worth Rs 6.08 crore in the state, said the minister.

As part of the Mambally Fish Village programme, a drinking water project worth Rs 35 lakh, an electrification project worth Rs 75 lakh, financial aid worth Rs 56 lakh for 140 beneficiaries and installation of four high-mast lights worth Rs 32 lakh would be installed.
