THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Get ready for a rare cosmic treat this weekend as five planets will align in the early morning sky this weekend.

Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn will be visible in the western and middle sky in the pre-dawn hours, the planetarium officials have said. “It is a rare event. Usually you get to see only one or two planets at a time,” Arul Jerald Prakash, director, Kerala State Science and Technology Museum (KSSTM) and Priyadarshini Planetarium, said on Thursday.

The planetarium is arranging a sky observation early morning on Saturday and Sunday for the public using its sophisticated telescopes. The observation will be from 4.30 am to 5.45 am, followed by a show at the planetarium.

The entry is on first-come, first-served basis for the first 100 applicants. Tokens will be issued at KSSTM, PMG, from 11 am on Friday.
