THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In view of the steep increase in day temperature and incidents of workers being hit by sunstroke on the rise, the working time of those who work in sunlight has been rescheduled.
As per the order issued by Labour Commissioner K Biju, those working in day shift will have rest time from 12 noon to 3 pm up to April 30. But their working hours will be stipulated as eight hours, between 7 am and 7 pm. The working hours in the morning shift and afternoon shift will end by 12 noon and resume at 3 pm respectively. The commissioner has ordered that the district labour officers should conduct inspections in workplaces under the Kerala Minimum Wages Rules 24(3) of 1958.
