Man Dies as Bike Collides with Truck

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 33-year-old man died in an accident after the bike he was riding collided head-on with a truck at Balaramapuram, near here, in the wee hours of Wednesday. The deceased is Anandakumar, son of Velayudhan, a native of Poozhikunnu, Kulathoor.

The Balaramapuram police have registered a case. According to the police, the accident occurred around 1 am when Anandakumar was returning home from the city on Karamana-Kaliyikkavila Road.

When he reached near Nazreth Home School near Kodinada at Balarampuram, the bike lost control and swerved into the opposite lane, ensuing in a head-on collision. Since it  happened in the wee hours, the other motorists travelling through the stretch alerted the ambulance. Though he was taken to hospital, he was declared brought dead. The police also registered a case against the truck driver. The truck was seized later. Anandakumar was an employee of a beer parlour at Neyyattinkara. He is survived by father Velayudhan, mother Murgamma and wife Sujakumari.
