Telangana CM's Assurance to Chandy Over UoH Problems' Resolve

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has assured Chief Minister Oommen Chandy that the problems faced by the students of Hyderabad Central University would be resolved soon.

Rao’s assurance over telephone was in response to a letter written by Chandy urging the Telangana Chief Minister to ensure the security of students, especially those from Kerala, in the wake of police excesses on the campus. Chandy, in his letter urged the Telangana government to desist from actions which hampered the academic freedom and rights of students. On March 22, the police had arrested 24 students and two faculty members of HCU when they were staging a protest over P Appa Rao resuming charge as the vice-chancellor.
