THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The delegate registration for the 21st International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which has ‘Migration’ as its theme, will begin on November 5.

Film buffs can register online through www.iffk.in up to November 25. The registration fee for ordinary delegates is Rs 500 and for students, Rs 300.

Registrations made after November 25 will be charged Rs 700, even for student passes.

Student passes will be issued only after a verification from this year onwards, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal told a press conference. This is meant to weed out undeserving candidates, he said.

For the passes, students should submit their ID card and also give the name of the institution they represent. The delegate passes will be distributed on December 5 through the delegate cell at Tagore Theatre, the main venue.

The academy plans to issue 13,000 delegate passes, 1,000 more than last year. There will be 13 venues in all, including Tagore Theatre.

Billed as the first transgender-friendly fest, IFFK 2016 will have a special package for third gender films, and at least five IFFK venues will have separate washrooms for transgenders. Also, in a first, delegate registration forms will have a separate column for the third gender.

IFFK 2016 will showcase 180 films in all including a separate package of films on migration.

There are 14 films in the international competition section including ‘Manhole’ by Vidhu Vincent and ‘Kaadu Pookkunna Neram’ directed by Dr Biju.
