Epidemics: No panic situation, says government

In the wake of the spread of fever and other epidemics, the government has said all precautions have been taken against the spread of such diseases. Officers said there was no need to panic.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of the spread of fever and other epidemics, the government has said all precautions have been taken against the spread of such diseases. Officers said there was no need to panic. 

All district hospitals have been equipped to tackle the diseases, said Health Minister K K Shylaja. The hospitals have a good stock of medicines, she said. Moreover, the government has taken steps to keep their  premises clean. 

A meeting held here on Thursday under the aegis of the Minister evaluated the fever scenario. It was decided to strengthen the activities against the rising number of cases and conduct more awareness campaigns. 

The Minister asked people to take precautions against fever and keep their surroundings clean.  According to figures, 22 confirmed dengue cases were reported statewide on Thursday, of which, 12 were from Palakkad, four from Thiruvananthapuram and three from Thrissur.
