17-yr-old girl found hanging in Thiruvananthapuram

A 17-year-old girl was found hanging on a tree in a forest settlement near her residence at Palode on Tuesday morning.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A 17-year-old girl was found hanging on a tree in a forest settlement near her residence at Palode on Tuesday morning. The Palode police have registered a case in connection with the incident.  According to the police, the first- year degree student of Iqbal College was found hanging around 9 am by the local residents after she went missing from her residence on Monday evening. 

The police suspect it to be a case of suicide. She was suffering from depression after her parents scolded her over her love affair with a neighbour. On Monday, she left home after informing her mother she was going to take a bath in a nearby pond. As she did not return home, the parents approached the police. 
The body was handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem examination. She is survived by father Chitranandan Kani, mother Vasanthakumari and younger brother Sibin.
