THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Archbishop Soosa Pakiam, who led a delegation of church leaders, was not only moved by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s gesture of visiting the fisherfolk of Poonthura but also was cleaned bowled by their concern for his health.
After their meeting at the Government Guest House, as the Archbishop was proceeding to leave, Modi noticed Soosa Pakiam’s hands shivering. The Prime Minister called him back and said it could be the beginning of the Parkinson’s disease. He further advised the Archbishop to go for homoeopathic treatment. “You should start treatment without delay. If treated at the initial stage, it will be effective,” he told Soosa Pakiam
Touched by the Prime Minister’s concern for his health, a visibly moved Archbishop thanked him profusely. Earlier, the church leaders had submitted a memorandum to Modi. On receiving it, the Prime Minister did not mince words: “No matter I make an announcement on your demands, the very purpose of my visit is to share the sorrow of the affected people. Moreover, the visit will give the entire government machinery a sense of urgency and that would help intensify the rescue and rehabilitation efforts,” he told them.
