THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It would be no exaggeration to say PSC is the lifeline for lakhs of government job aspirants in the state. Those three letters have spurred many a job-seeker to burn the midnight oil to clear the examination.
Its efforts to bring in transparency in the staff selection process over the years have made it one of the most trusted recruiters in the country. It is celebrating its diamond jubilee with year-long programmes across the state.
Almost all government departments and a majority of statutory bodies have entrusted PSC with their appointments. Also, various government-owned corporations, boards, companies and apex cooperatives have also entrusted the commission with this task. As many as 1,500 posts are under its purview.
Each year, it receives as many as 40 lakh applications for about 600 notifications. Candidates are selected on the basis of written examination/practical test/physical test and interview. It conducts over 200 examinations every year.
