THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two youths were arrested by the Thampanoor police on Wednesday for allegedly robbing money from a Tamil Nadu native in the guise of shadow police officers. The arrested are Shibu aka Irumbu Podiyan of Kalliyoor and Hussain of Muttathara.
They have been allegedly robbing money from several people by impersonating as police officers, police said. The arrest was made based on the complaint of Thiruparp from Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. The police said Thiruparp was robbed of Rs 42,000 when he alighted from a bus at Thampanoor.
The duo introduced themselves as shadow police and frisked him, took the money and fled. The police said the arrested were accused in several criminal cases registered at various police stations in the city.
