Reaching out to underprivileged through Vasthra project

A project named ‘Vasthra’ has been launched to make Onam a happy one for the underprivileged

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Government Vocational Higher Secondary School, Poovachal, in association with local clubs and Poovachal gram panchayat, launched a project named ‘Vasthra’ to collect and distribute clothes and other household items to the underprivileged ahead of Onam.

Thousands of clothes, bags shoes books, utensils, electrical and electronic items, which remain unused at home, but could be used by others, were collected as part of the programme. Two rooms have been set apart at Kattakkada market as ‘swap shops’ for the public to pick and choose from the collected items.  The ‘Vasthram’ programme was coordinated by NSS Programme officer of the school, Sameer Siddiqui.
