OBHS of Kerala Express set to get a makeover

Passengers travelling in reserved compartments can now demand that their coach be cleaned by sending an SMS.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Passengers travelling in reserved compartments can now demand that their coach be cleaned by sending an SMS. Thiruvananthapuram Division started On-Board House Keeping Services(OBHS) in Kerala Express on Wednesday. 

The service will be extended to 26 more trains by February 17. 

Toilets, doorways, gangways and vestibules of the trains will be cleaned regularly from 5 am to 9 am and from 4 pm to 8 pm. In addition, the cleaning work will be done whenever  the passengers demand. Passengers need to send SMS to 9003161455 by typing “CLEAN” followed by the 10 digit PNR number of the ticket.

Coaches with environmental-friendly bio-toilets  will be attended during the service. Any blockage in the bio-toilet  will be checked and removed. Spraying disinfectant after washing and drying  toilets  will be done along with providing deodorants.

Liquid soaps and toilet tissues  will be  provided in the toilets of AC coaches. Spraying of room freshener and mosquito repellant will be carried out. Checking water availability in the coaches in every three hours, wiping platform side window glass of all AC coaches, cleaning coach floor area and collection of garbage in poly bags are other services.

Performance of the OBHS staff is being monitored through feedback forms.
