THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman V S Achuthanandan on Wednesday wrote to Health Minister K K Shylaja demanding that existing vacancies of food safety officers be filled from the corresponding rank list.
In his letter, he said the Food Security Act mandated appointment of food safety officers by the Public Service Commission.“The state government also issued an order in this regard. However, the postings are in limbo after health inspectors demanded that they be promoted to the posts. I urge the government to take steps to appoint food safety officer from the rank list for the same, thus following the norms,” he said.
