CPM, Congress workers clash at Balaramapuram

The CPM and Congress workers clashed at Balaramapuram junction on Wednesday evening leaving many injured. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the activists.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM and Congress workers clashed at Balaramapuram junction on Wednesday evening leaving many injured. The police resorted to lathicharge to disperse the activists.
 The clash began around 6.30 pm when the CPM activists shouted slogans demanding the resignation of arrested Kovalam MLA M Vincent and the Congress workers demanded the release of the MLA. They hurled stones at each other.

The police stationed at the spot caned the protesters. Many were injured in the clash and were taken to the Medical College Hospital for treatment.
The shops in the town were shut and traffic diverted to avoid untoward incidents.
The vehicles from Thiruvananthapuram were diverted from Mudavoorpara and those from Neyyattinkara side were diverted from Vazhimukku.
 The Balaramapuram police have registered a case.
