THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:Technology enthusiasts in the city are proud of starting the first chapter of Singularity University’s, a Silicon Valley think tank, here in Tecknopark. According to them the chapter could help them interact with the best technology minds in the world to tackle the world’s biggest challenges using exponential technologies. The chapter will be the single spot for engaging the academics, start-ups, corporates, government to adopt and adapt the technology changes.
There are various factors that made the city ideal for setting the chapter here. The chapter, will be functioning out of Technopark which is a space where more than 50,000 professionals work across 300 plus companies. Kerala Startup Mission, functioning out of Technopark, incubated numerous startups that are working in the areas of AI, AR, VR, Blockchain, Robotics etc. The city has an exclusive lab supported by Kerala Startup Mission which is working towards being a future technology experience center. This can be opened for the chapter to walk the talk. ICFOSS which promotes open software learnings, Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) at VSSC carries out research and studies in atmospheric science and other related space science activities, Kerala Forest Research Institute (a multidisciplinary team of experts conducting research on tropical forests and forestry), Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Rajiv Gandhi Center for Biotechnology etc are other attractions. The Meetup Cafe in Kerala Startup Mission will serve as the epicenter for all the events, discussions and activities of the SingularityU Trivandrum, said Manager of KSUM, Ashok Panjikaran.
SingularityU Trivandrum offers a meeting place for alumni, speakers, and the curious to discuss exponential technologies and research how these can be leveraged to address issues locally. It is also for empowering the startups and communities to adopt Future Technologies in developing their products or forums and gradually developing a pool of professionals from multiple sectors, who share common thoughts which are innovative and can create solutions for identified problems with the implementation of Future Technologies.
