Kerala State Human Rights Commission orders immediate renovation of untended park

The decision was taken over a complaint by Narayanan Potti against the dilapidated state of the park.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Human Rights Commission (KSHRC) has ordered the Sreekanteswaram park to be renovated at the earliest and maintained for use by the public and children.
Commission chairperson Justice Antony Dominic issued the directive to the Corporation Secretary.

The decision was taken over a complaint by Narayanan Potti against the dilapidated state of the park. The complaint states the equipment in the park has deteriorated and the park has turned into a dump. It further suggests that with none to oversee, the park is being frequented by anti-social elements.

The Commission had sought a report from the Corporation secretary regarding the issue. The electrification project was included in the 2017-18 project and an estimate of Rs 6.10 lakh was prepared. It has also sanctioned a beautification project amounting to Rs18 lakh.
