New workplace for ICFOSS

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS), the nodal agency concentrating on free software development, is shifting its workspace from Technopark to the Sports Hub. ICFOSS will occupy 30,000 square feet which will house technology incubators and start up space for entrepreneurs.

The company aims to create more opportunity for new start-ups and entrepreneurs. The agreement between ICFOSS and Karyavattom Sports Facilities was exchanged in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Ajay Padmanabhan, chief operating officer, Sports Hub handed over the agreement to Jayasankar Prasad, director, ICFOSS.

ICFOSS conducts several FOSS-related activities by bringing together academia, industry, government and the FOSS community. Activities of ICFOSS include research and development; support to FOSS software development, FOSS pilot programs; technology assistance to government programs and institutions, local language computing, student FOSS activities, internet governance, studies on FOSS, exploring FOSS certification and capacity building of students to join the FOSS community. Built over 37 acres, the Sports Hub integrates sport, recreation and leisure.

Developed by IL & FS group, the facility comprises of 50,000 capacity state-of-the-art cricket-cum- football stadium.
