THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city corporation has decided to extend the coverage of Sahaya software - that keeps track of students’ activities and pass on the information to parents  - to all the government and aided schools in the city. A meeting presided over by Mayor V K Prasanth decided that the Police, Education Department, and the Corporation would use the software, designed by the Information Kerala Mission for the Corporation, to improve the functioning of schools.

It has also been decided to design a mobile app to improve Sahaya’s functioning. The project has been drawn up as part of the people’s plan project of the corporation. In the last two years, the software has been used successfully at 130 schools in the city.    The software has the advantage of giving information to the parents and guardians about the students who may be irregular in classes and their academic performance.

The police can also log in separately in the software to monitor the irregular students in the schools. The meeting also decided to start an upgraded version of Sahaya software as a mobile application.
