Thiruvananthapuram: CCTV cameras installed at traffic stations

In a bid to ensure transparency in the communication between police and public while dealing with traffic related cases, the department has installed CCTV cameras at the traffic stations in the city.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a bid to ensure transparency in the communication between police and public while dealing with traffic related cases, the department has installed CCTV cameras at the traffic stations in the city limits. City police commissioner P Prakash inaugurated the installation on Monday. A total of 16 modern cameras have been installed at the office rooms of duty officer, GD charge and at the hall where the public arrive.

In a statement, the city police commissioner P Prakash said the cameras will record the interaction between the public and the police. The working of the traffic policemen will be reviewed periodically. The commissioner also felicitated the policemen who excelled in controlling traffic in 2017.  SI Subin Thankachan, ASIs Jayakumar, Subramaniyam Potti, Chandran, Abdul Wahab, civil police officers Manoj, Haressh, and Rajesh were felicitated.

Following the function, a traffic awareness session was also conducted for the school students. Traffic Assistant Commissioner Anilkumar presided over the function.
