Great that youngsters have taken to reading says Kerala Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The fact the new generation is giving due importance to reading is encouraging, said Tourism Minister Kadakampally Surendran. According to him, the older generation’s obsession with reading had indeed shown the way to the young ones as they were willing to take up books. He said this while distributing prizes to winners of a state-level quiz competition and district-level painting competition organised by the P N Panicker Foundation as part of the Reading Month celebration on Sunday.

“Thanks to PN Panicker a generation had grown here by reading. This had inspired the young generation as they nurtured a love towards reading,” said Surendran.While Alappuzha natives Abhinav Rajesh and Amala Anna came first in the in the state-level quiz competition, the second spot was shared by Malappuram natives N Govind and VP Thafeeq Ahammad.

The prizes for the district-level painting competition for the nursery, primary, upper primary and high school sections were also distributed during the function.The programme which was presided over by CPI
leader Panniyan Raveendran was also attended by PN Panicker Foundation vice-chairman N Balagopal, Kerala University Library Science’s former faculty member KP Vijayakumar, Chinmaya educational
institutions’ chairman R Sureshmohan and others.
