23 booked in cordon and search operation 

The city police conducted a cordon and search operation with an objective of recovering stolen vehicles and properties at  Krishnalanka in the wee hours of Friday.

VIJAYAWADA: The city police conducted a cordon and search operation with an objective of recovering stolen vehicles and properties at  Krishnalanka in the wee hours of Friday.The police booked bind over cases against 23 persons under Section 110 of Criminal Procedure Code and presented them before the first class magistrate.  Among the detained, 20 persons have criminal background. The police also seized three motorcycles during the operation. The police initially mapped the locality and blocked all entry and exit points. 

Around 140 police personnel, including South Zone ACP, three inspectors, 12 sub-inspectors and around 120 constables participated in the cordon and search operation. The police verified the iris of around 300 suspects with the Aadhaar credentials. Police also issued challans to 20 vehicle owners, who don’t have valid documents.DCP (Law and Order) Kranti Rana Tata said, “In the wake recent crimes, we are collecting the data of all criminals and suspects in the city. We have increased patrolling in the night times on the outskirts of the city. We will not spare any wrongdoers,” he added. 


Five held, Rs 48,000 seized

The city police on Friday arrested five persons in connection with dacoity, housebreaking and theft cases and recovered Rs 48,000 from them. The arrested were Md Javed (30), Sk Vahed (30), K Bhaskar (28), Sk Saida Babu and Sk Arif. The quintet were apprehended during a special drive taken up by the Central Crime Station (CCS) police.
