Few takers for ‘Farm-to-Home’ app due to technical glitches

The most prestigious ‘Farm to Home’ initiative taken up by Krishna district administration is now facing a hard time as citizens are finding difficulty in using the app.

VIJAYAWADA: The most prestigious ‘Farm to Home’ initiative taken up by Krishna district administration is now facing a hard time as citizens are finding difficulty in using the app. Delivering farm fresh vegetables from rythu bazaars to customers seems to take more time as in a majority of the cases, the app is getting stuck and it is unable to navigate the address. At present, nearly 10 people are assigned for this initiative in the rythu bazaars in Patamata, Bhavanipuram, Singh Nagar, Kethareswarpet. In each bazaar, four people have been assigned to look after the orders, two people for packing and four more for delivering the orders. Through this initiative, people can have fresh vegetables from rythu bazars delivered directly at their door step. Customers are charged `5 extra per kg of vegetables than the prices in rythu bazaar as a delivery charge.

In order to avail this facility, customers have to download the app and register themselves by providing their details and address. After the completion of registration, customers can order vegetables they require from nearby markets. However, due to a technical error, customers are seeing messages saying the service is not applicable at your place. Because of this, customers are turning away from this initiative.

Parveen Sharma who resides at Patamata says that she was very happy with the app in the early stages but later it turned futile due to technical problems. “I was very happy to know that vegetables from rythu bazaars will be delivered at my home with just a click. But when I tried to use it, it became a trouble. After repeated trials, I tried placing orders 2-3 times. But now, due to technical glitches, I have lost the patience to try it. So I have opted other online vegetable vendors.” she added.

Meanwhile, the highly populated rythu bazar in the city which is located at Swaraj Maidan is still searching for staff to take up the initiative. Till date, this particular rythu bazar was not included in the app as there was shortage of staff. Because swaraj maidan rythu bazar is not enlisted in the app, majority of the people in the central part of Vijayawada cannot even use the app. Speaking to Express, MS Sastry, Estate Officer of Swaraj Maidan rythu bazaar said, “We are facing a severe shortage of staff and though we have sent invitations for recruitment, not many candidates have turned up. There is not much demand for the online sale in this area. We might launch this initiative in future if we can get enough staff.”
