VIJAYAWADA: Sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Vijayawada unit, conducted surprise raids and seized ganja worth Rs 1.68 crore from an Eicher Cargo Vehicle in Enikepadu village limits late on Sunday. The officers recovered about 1117 kg of ganja that was concealed in the three and a half feet false cavity in the front portion of the vehicle. The contraband was said to be brought from Visakhapatnam agency area and was being taken to Hyderabad.
Additional director general MK Singh said he received information that drugs were being illegally transported in a lorry to Hyderabad from agency areas near Visakhapatnam and intercepted a cargo vehicle at Enikepadu where the cops found 1,117 kg of ganja tightly packed in carton boxes. He further said the ganja had been seized under the provisions of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
