Dispute over a seat between two passengers turned awry when one pushes the other off a moving Gudur- Vijayawada passenger train at Kolakaluru village limits on Friday afternoon.

VIJAYAWADA: Dispute over a seat between two passengers turned awry when one pushes the other off a moving Gudur- Vijayawada passenger train at Kolakaluru village limits on Friday afternoon. The accused passenger was reportedly in an inebriated condition. According to Vijayawada railway station officials, accused Venkata Rao boarded the train at Chirala in Prakasam district around 1 pm.

After a few minutes, Ratna Raju boarded the train from Tenali in the same coach where Rao was sitting. When Raju, a sweeper in Tenali railway station, asked Rao to share his seat with him for a while, Rao got infuriated and hurled abuses at him which later turned into a scuffle. Rao even tried to attack Raju.
After fellow passengers intervened and assuaged the two, Raju left the place. But, Venkata Rao who was in an inebriated condition pushed Ratna Raju off the train.

Shocked fellow passengers took Rao to task and handed him over to Government Railway Police (GRP) in Vijayawada railway station. “A case has been registered against Rao under relevant sections of Indian Railways Act - 1989,” said a senior GPR  official.
