VIJAYAWADA: Excise Minister KS Jawahar on Saturday alleged that Madiga Reservation Porata Samithi (MRPS) founder-president Manda Krishna Madiga and Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham took up agitation for SC categorisation and Kapu reservation as per the directions of YSR Congress chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and to cause law and order problem in the State.

Denouncing the torching of vehicles during  ‘Kurukshetra Mahasabha’ called by Krishna Madiga on Friday, he said the MRPS founder was ruining the future of Dalit youth by misguiding them on the SC categorisation issue. He wanted to know why Krishna Madiga failed to seek the stand of YSRC on the issue of categorisation of Scheduled Castes by organising a protest at the party plenary if he was really committed to the cause of SCs, he said.

Press meet cancelled
MRPS leader Manda Krishna Madiga who was supposed to address a press conference at the Press Club in Vijayawada on Saturday evening, cancelled it as the police stepped up vigil in its vicinity. As per the direction from their higher officials, the police said they were waiting at the Press Club for taking Krishna Madiga into preventive custody.

Meanwhile, in a press conference designated to address the aftermath of the foiled ‘Kurekshetra meet’, Director General of Police (DGP) Nanduri Sambasiva Rao said that media should not disseminate false news which would cause damage to law and order in the State. Rao appealed the media to double check the facts before publishing. He also pointed out that one television channel had falsely run a scroll which would provoke people to agitate.
